Thermally sprayed surfaces in the packaging industry.
For packaging machines, thermal coating is always an advantage.
In the application field of packaging machines, wear issues, corrosion attacks, non-stick conditions, conveying options or electrical conductivities are always an issue for developers and users. rhv-Technik is one of the leading specialists when it comes to high-performance technologies for thermal surface technology in this range of applications.
Thanks to our enormous experience in high-quality surface technology and our numerous material options, we find the perfect, individual solution for every technical challenge in the field of packaging machines.
In recent years, the Rems-Murr district has developed into a region that is home to an enormous number of the world’s leading packaging machine manufacturers. As a specialist for thermal coatings and surface technology for packaging machines, rhv-Technik is part of this expert community and a member of the competence centre for packaging technology, Packaging Valley.

The wide range of possible applications of thermal spraying in the packaging industry.
In packaging plants and machines, thermal surface technology supports long service lives and reliable operation.
For example, heating plates are equipped with a sandwich layer system and meet three requirements at once. Protection against corrosion and wear as well as non-stick properties are combined by thermal spraying.
For packaging sonotrodes, a unique coating system was developed in cooperation with our customer, which combines wear protection with electrical conductivity in a high-performance ceramic. The subsequent mechanical post-processing at our company meets high-precision tolerance specifications.
Dosing screws that come into contact with critical and demanding media and convey them in different compositions are made wear and corrosion-resistant with carbide or ceramic coatings. In these cases, mechanical post-processing can be dispensed with because the surface roughness is already adapted “as sprayed” to the specifications.
Typical applications of thermal surface technology in the packaging industry:
Guide rollers that transport cartons, cardboard boxes or other packaging material are provided with thermally applied spray coatings, whose roughness is precisely defined. In this way, conveying functions and reliable operation can be reconciled without damaging the packaging material. The same principle applies to conveyor pots for the transport of bulk material, in guide tracks for labelling machines or clamping jaws and grippers. Carbide coatings increase the service life and the quality of the cutting edge of technical knives.
Enjoy the benefits of our long-term experience.
The application possibilities are almost infinite. All combinations of wear and corrosion protection, non-slip or non-absorbent surfaces, low-friction or braking caotings, electrically insulating or conductive as well as temperature-conducting or insulating spray coatings are conceivable.
