Laser welding

Range of services

Laser welding is the ideal complement to thermal spraying. As a professional for your surface, we offer you a further finishing process that brings your components to peak performance.

Advantages of laser welding:

    • Repairs with the same material as the base material

    • Creation of functional surfaces by choosing a harder or softer material than the base material

    • Low heat and energy input: no component distortion, no structural changes or hardening, basic toughness is retained

    • Precise energy input even on the finest structures

    • High mechanical strength of the seam

    • Different materials can be welded together, for example hardfacing stainless steel with a harder material

    • Fast processing

    • Little reworking necessary

    • Scrap recovery and repair

    • Non-contact laser welding without applying force to the workpiece

    • Good process control for consistent production quality

Industries + applications

Repair welding
Spindles / facing systems / facing segments
Shafts / bearing seats (external + internal)
Taper HSK / SK (external + internal)
Keyway of rotor shafts
Driver contour
Repair of threads
Repair of spanner flats
Contour production / contour reconditioning
Repair of quirks / cavities / flex marks / damage / indentations

Tool spindles
Dirt and constant tool changes put immense strain on the spindle and its taper.
The HSK or SK taper, the facing units and facing segments are affected. Laser welding allows the worn areas to be reconditioned quickly and sustainably, significantly reducing machine downtime.
Worn hexagonal spanner flats are restored.

Cast part repair
Does your casting have pores, blowholes or cracks? With laser welding, we offer you the perfect solution as a scrap rescue and sustainable repair:
Individual defects can be repaired quickly and without leaving any residue.
Your casting can either be reconditioned with the same material as the base body or with a harder material.

Rotors
Full or partial armouring, increased impact resistance

Impact plates
Partially welded with soft or hard material, wear reduction

rhv standard materials:

  • High-speed steels (1.3348)
  • stainless steel (1.4718 / 1.4571 / 1.4337)
  • steel containing molybdenum (1.5424)
  • Nickel-based alloy (2.4607 / 2.4856 / 2.4819)
  • Aluminium-silicon alloy (3.2585)

Other materials on request

Other welding materials:

  • Hard + soft steels
  • From structural steel to high-alloy tool steel
  • Ni-based alloys such as Inconel and Hastelloy
  • Titanium
  • Aluminium
  • Aluminium bronze
  • Also ‘non-weldable’ materials
